Job Description:
Parsons is seeking Database Administrators to maintain and support operational Oracle databases, ensuring efficient data transformation processes for storing and retrieving customer data within a data warehouse environment. In this role, you will configure, maintain, and administer application-specific databases, ingest data from both internal and external sources, and present that data for analytics and business intelligence purposes.
What You'll Be Doing:
Managing provisioned data warehouse and application databases in an Oracle Exadata Cloud Services environment.
Performing daily database administration functions, which involve developing queries and reports based on customer requirements, modifying or creating database views, and managing backup and recovery operations.
Monitoring database performance, publishing daily performance metrics, and resolving database issues that impact application performance.
Applying vendor-provided updates to database tables and schemas.
Managed and configured Oracle APEX to support multiple mission-critical applications.
Designing logical data relationships and query structures based on customer requirements, considering factors such as access methods, access frequency, storage media, data volatility, query requirements, and operating environments.
Evaluating data sets and engineering solutions for integration into the Data Warehouse.
Developing, sustaining, and maintaining user manuals and instructions to guide customers in executing data access functions, such as running queries and reports.
Participating in multi-functional teams and managing work through JIRA.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
An active TS/SCI (Top Secret with Sensitive Compartmented Information eligibility)
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM with 8 years of relevant work experience. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, 13 + years of work-related experience will be considered.
A minimum of 5 years of experience with Oracle APEX and ORDS applications.
Demonstrable proficiencies in SQL and SQL Plus languages.
Experience managing Oracle databases.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
Performance Monitoring & Optimization. Skilled in analyzing and improving database performance and scalability.
Database Security Best Practices. Knowledge of role-based access, encryption, auditing, and compliance requirements.
Experience with Linux/Unix Environments. Comfortable navigating and scripting in command-line environments.
Backup and Disaster Recovery Planning. Familiar with RMAN, Data Guard, and other backup/recovery strategies.
Familiarity with Cloud Platforms (Optional but valuable). Especially Oracle Cloud, AWS RDS, or Azure Database services.
Scripting and Automation. Experience with tools like Bash, Python, or Ansible for task automation.
