Position Description:
The successful candidate will support the Department of Defense in the development and analysis of models to support Directed Energy (DE) system simulation and emulation, working on the High Energy Laser Emulation team within Radiances Emerging and Disruptive Technologies Group. Typical projects involve building and integrating physics-based hardware and environment models into a real-time simulation framework, interfacing hardware models with tactical software, and supporting test and analysis of DE systems.
The High Energy Laser Simulation and Assessment Division supports DoD Modeling and Simulation efforts through specialized software development as well as Modeling, Simulation and Analysis (MSandA) tools and infrastructure. Our team has a unique blend of engineering, mathematics, and computer science backgrounds, providing our customers with innovative solutions to complex software and hardware problems. This opportunity will give the candidate exposure to principles and practices of engineering design, software design, and systems engineering within the context of Directed Energy systems. Our dynamic High Energy Laser Emulation team works collaboratively across a diverse team of Directed Energy engineers and scientists.
Required Skills
3.2 or higher grade point average (4.0 scale). GPA must be listed on resume.
Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or relevant technical degree
US citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance
Experience with programming languages such as C++ and Python
Experience with Microsoft Office tools
Desired Qualifications
Self-motivated and able to work well within a team
Familiarity with software version control systems, such git and subversion
Experience developing physics-based and logical models
Experience with hardware interfacing via serial communications, ethernet-based communications, and/or general-purpose input/output
