Description
The Amazon Payments Acceptance & Experience Team is responsible for how Amazon's customers pay on Amazon's sites and through Amazon's services around the globe. You will work with the biggest players in the payments industry to deliver best-in-class customer payment experiences while driving change in the industry.
As a Business Analyst, you're supporting the team to identify opportunities to improve paying experience. You analyze payments data, customers' preferences and payments partners data to drive decisions. You also build reports and mechanisms that help the team scale at the regional level through self-service tools. Finally, you engage with other analytics team to define models that contribute to refining business decisions.
Working in a dynamic environment, you will be responsible for automating dashboards, monitoring key success metrics, managing monthly/quarterly business reports, identifying problem areas and business challenges and collaboratively shaping solutions with Amazon Payments teams to help optimize on the platform. The successful candidate has a passion for extracting actionable insights from data. The candidate needs to innovate, and quickly become a subject matter expert to assess business performance across different Amazon Payments areas. The candidate should have significant experience working with automation, analyzing data, identifying trends, extracting conclusions, and presenting findings in a simple and clear manner using data across various data marts, and align focus on Amazon's strategic needs.
Day to Day, you will:
Gather data and perform ad-hoc analytical exercises to generate actionable insights and improve customer payment experience.
Employ data mining, segmentation, and other analytical techniques to capture important trends and create relevant measurement dashboards (from internal data or external data).
Proactively work directly with business team to conduct deep dives and drive resolution.
Drive standardization, build tools and dashboards that the team can access self-service.
Develop models to forecast adoption, growth or profitability of some projects.
Suggest test methodologies to confirm hypothesis before investment decisions.
Key job responsibilities
Develop deep understanding of Payments domain drivers and impacts
Design and implement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in partnership with business teams
Convert complex data analysis into actionable business insights
Create automated reporting systems for weekly business metrics
Conduct advanced analytics including: Root cause analysis; Correlation studies; Regression modeling;
Process optimization
Build and maintain internal datasets to support rapid business analysis
Lead development of regular and ad-hoc reporting to drive business decisions
Aggregate multi-source data into clear, actionable formats
Define data elements for analytics and reporting capabilities
Identify business opportunities through pattern recognition and data analysis
Contribute to strategic planning and tactical execution

Basic Qualifications
3+ years of business analyst, data analyst or similar role experience
3+ years of Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, power pivots, etc.) and data visualization tools such as Tableau experience
Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights
Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders
3+ years experience with Advanced with SQL
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in payments and/or ecommerce
Expert-level SQL proficiency including advanced query optimization, complex database operations (joins, subqueries, window functions), performance tuning, and extensive experience with various database management systems
Basic Data Pipeline understanding such as: end-to-end data pipeline development, ETL process management, data quality control, and system optimization, complemented by strong troubleshooting skills and multi-source data integration experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $143,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
