DESCRIPTION/LISTING/ESTIMATED DURATION OF THE SELECTION PROCESS
All applications for this position will be forwarded to the department indicated above. For those candidates passing the application review step, the hiring process will include one or more interviews, a criminal background check, and a pre-employment drug test. For any position within the Division of Police, the hiring process will also include the completion of an extensive personal history questionnaire and a polygraph examination. The selection process can take as little as 3 weeks and up to 3 months.

Considerable knowledge of analytical procedures and principles; considerable knowledge of current social media sources and
outlets; general knowledge of the criminal rules of evidence; general knowledge of the guidelines surrounding proper
collection, preservation, and storage of intelligence information; ability to create detailed charts and timelines; ability to
compile, compare, record, maintain, and analyze data; ability to analyze complex information and make logical conclusions.

AREA OF FOCUS FOR THE JOB AND SPECIFIC FOCUS AREA RESPONSIBILITIES
Under general supervision, is responsible for receiving, compiling, and analyzing information and for using the information in the preparation of intelligence reports used in major case development and investigations; performs related duties as required. Researches, retrieves, compiles, analyzes, interprets, and converts criminal intelligence information gathered from diverse sources regarding threat groups, suspects, victims, or witnesses into actionable intelligence and provides real-time criminal intelligence information to law enforcement personnel engaged in on-going criminal investigations. These tasks include all other duties as assigned.
Under general supervision, is responsible for receiving, compiling, and analyzing information and for using the information in the preparation of intelligence reports used in major case development and investigations; performs related duties as required.
Examples of Work

Develops reliable criminal intelligence sources and performs a professional analysis of retrieved data;
Researches, retrieves, compiles, analyzes, interprets, and converts criminal intelligence information gathered from diverse sources regarding threat groups, suspects, victims, or witnesses into actionable intelligence and provides real-time criminal intelligence information to law enforcement personnel engaged in on-going criminal investigations;
Identifies potential threats to officer safety and the safety of the public;
Prepares tactical and strategic threat assessments and intelligence reports for increased threats and criminal activity that surround City events;
Compiles and prepares detailed investigative reports and maintains related records in accordance with federal regulations;
Analyzes data including published documents from sources such as the county auditor, recorder, Secretary of State and county court records;
Utilizes social media accounts for monitoring and assessing the development of threats to the public and/or law enforcement personnel, violence, criminal activity, and gang related activities;
Develops detailed charts and timelines to illustrate relationships and demonstrate link analysis;
Reviews files and new information to ensure continuity of information and develop cross-references;
Requests acquisition of needed data to complete a particular file, case, or subject;
Performs financial analysis for possible use in criminal prosecution;
Attends meetings with appropriate bureau, Division, and other law enforcement agency personnel as needed;
May assist in the drafting of legal process documentation such as search warrants, court orders, and subpoenas; makes electronic requests for data;
May participate in interviews of suspect(s), victim(s) and/or witness (es);
May testify as an expert witness in court to explain the results of an analysis.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience analyzing data and investigating criminal activity. Substitution(s): A master's degree in criminology, law enforcement, or a closely related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
Some positions may require State of Ohio or federal clearances, certification, or licensure related to the specialization of the program or assignment.
