DESCRIPTIONS OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The purpose of the Landside Operations and Ground Transportation section is to maintain a safe and efficient flow of passengers, airport environment for the traveling passenger, and the airport personnel by performing the following daily duties: landside inspections, regulatory investigations, emergency response, and security activities. The role of the Senior Landside Agent is to provide a safe, secure, and efficient operational movement for the traveling passenger, baggage, and motor vehicle flow. This role is responsible for managing the safety and security of the terminal(s), roadways, and tenant areas while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, local rules and regulations are being met. Aids in security activities by acting in a lead capacity to Landside Agents to monitor the following: safety, security regulations, policies and procedures. Reports unsafe conditions, policy and procedure violations to supervisor and takes corrective action as needed. Operates a Houston Airport System motor vehicle to report roadway conditions, respond to incidents, and traffic related issues. Must be able to pass a criminal background check, obtain and maintain federally-mandated security clearances for working at an airport.
Essential job duties and responsibilities for the (Senior Landside Agent) includes but are not limited to:
Inspects airport terminal areas, the perimeter, and tenant facilities to ensure safe and secure operations. Prepares inspection reports. Reports unsafe conditions and policy/procedure violations to the appropriate personnel and takes corrective action as needed.
Observes and reports tenant and airline activities to ensure compliance with airport leases, contracts, standards and policies/procedures. Reports violations to supervisor and takes corrective action as needed.
Inspects and enforces applicable regulations and policies by performing required safety and compliance inspections of commercial vehicles and may issue citations as needed.
Acts as field liaison during emergencies. Supports operational activities and maintains order during aeronautical-related emergencies, following the Airport Emergency Plan and other airport rules and regulations.
May performs security activities and maintains reports.
May perform traffic and curbside management duties as needed.
May assist in training of Landside Agents.
Contributes to the team by performing other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required. There are routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions. Requires the ability to make coordinated gross motor movements in response to changing external stimuli within moderately demanding tolerances; or the ability to make coordinated movements on a patterned response space within low tolerance demands with no real speed requirements.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management, Airway Science, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two years of experience in airport operations, airport security, airport safety and/or any other customer service-related field is required.
Directly related professional experience in airport operations/security or customer service may substitute for the above education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Requires a valid driver's license and compliance with city's policy on driving (AP 2-2).
PREFERENCES
Preference will be given to applicant with direct related experience in operations, budget management and administrative skills within an aviation setting preferred. Knowledge in administrative regulatory/statutory guidelines in a large hub setting a plus. Excellent customer service skills highly desirable. The ability to create and write safety reports a plus. Candidates with the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing when using bilingual or multilingual skills to communication with customers a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
