Job Description:
Parsons is seeking a Construction Superintendent to support power generation infrastructure projects in Texas and Georgia. This role involves overseeing all on-site field construction activities.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Plan, organize, and supervise specific portions of construction work for an assigned area of a large construction project.
- Schedule major construction tasks and engage the services of local subcontractors, including authorizing overtime and approving vendor payments.
- Coordinate the activities of craft supervisors, foremen, and subcontractors to ensure effective operations and productivity.
- Ensure continuity of job progress and maximize efficiencies related to the assigned area.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with the client and subcontractors.
- May have full responsibility on smaller projects, acting in the capacity of a Construction Manager.
- Willingness to relocate to construction site locations is expected.
Other Responsibilities:
- Make recommendations and participate in the planning of construction operations.
- Outline work programs and designate critical areas and priorities.
- Plan the sequence and number of construction activities to be placed in progress in the operational program.
- Review and approve field manpower requisitions for the employment of craft labor.
- Execute all orders and directives issued by the Project Manager.
- Provide detailed scheduling of daily construction activities and coordinate between the company and subcontractors to avoid conflicts.
- Maintain surveillance of labor performance, manpower allocation, and effective use of tools and equipment.
- Ensure the use of sound construction practices to attain required quality control at maximum efficiency and minimum cost.
- Monitor subcontractor operations, including enforcement of all contractual obligations. Initiate and obtain acceptance of appropriate back charges to subcontractors.
- Understand and apply company labor relations policies.
- Maintain a physical presence at the site, except as otherwise acceptable to the Contracting Officer, and be responsible for all construction and construction-related activities.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field (or equivalent experience in construction-related work).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in field construction, including direct management of electrical and civil construction projects.
- Experience in the construction of large civil/structural and/or industrial projects required
What Required Skills You'll Have:
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction-related processes and industry practices.
- Proven leadership and supervisory capability.
- Capable of providing programming and maintenance services to check out all Contractor-furnished equipment.
- Completion of the 30-Hour OSHA Construction Industry safety class with current First Aid and CPR Training/AED.
- Knowledge of administration and management, including planning, resource allocation, production management, and coordination of people, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in electrical construction.
- Ability to read, understand, and apply information obtained from electrical drawings and job specifications.
- Knowledge of the latest NEC, NFPA 70E, and EM-385 codes.
- Ability to pass a NACI background investigation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods.
