What You Will Do
The Cybersecurity Technical Staff will become a team member for a highly visible Innovative Customer Experience (ICE) division, Cloud Services (CS) group that develops and manages Microsoft 365 (M365) and Azure services for Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The core of your responsibilities will be to develop compliance policies, manage data requests, identify and mitigate vulnerabilities, perform cyber analysis, and coordinate with cyber security teams across LANL and the larger Department of Energy complex.
As a Purview administrator you will primarily work on Microsoft 365 related technologies such as SharePoint Online and OneDrive with tools provided by Purview and Defender features to prepare those cloud environments for the use of Artificial Intelligence such as Copilot for M365. You will help lay the foundation of data management based on LANL best practices for the tracking, retention, marking, and compliance of LANL data and ensure its proper use within the M365 environment using native tools such as Purview and its Defender components.
Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with all aspects of current network technology including network protocols, network infrastructure elements, and network applications, services and related protocols.
Knowledge of and experience in one or more of the following disciplines: computer science, information security, information assurance, or cyber security.
Knowledge of distributed systems, including system architectures, computer networks, and software.
Technical knowledge of classic and contemporary cyber threats and vulnerabilities and demonstrated ability to apply that knowledge to system engineering, analytics, or operations.
Knowledge of and familiarity with creating measurement tools for vulnerability assessment, detection and mitigation, penetration testing and red teaming, reverse engineering, enterprise host forensics, network forensics, network packet analysis, incident response, or programming and scripting languages
The successful candidate will perform data management duties related to M365 and related Azure products, including but not limited to:
Performs identification, monitoring, detection, analysis, and mitigation of moderately complex computer and network security vulnerabilities and incidents.
Evaluate new tools, techniques and propose effective solutions to cyber security issues.
Manage/Participate in audits.
Manage/Participate in cyber incident responses.
Contributes to the automation of NIST related standards.
Manage/Participate in technical reporting and briefings.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Purview and Defender products or similar data management software.
Proficiency in one of more of the following disciplines: computer science, information security, information assurance, or cyber security.
Knowledge of emerging computing technologies in industry related to M365 and Azure.
Demonstrated experience in creating measurement tools for vulnerability assessment, detection and mitigation, reverse engineering, and incident response.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical field and a minimum of 2 years' related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with SharePoint Premium licensing to help manage access and data types for SharePoint and OneDrive.
Experience with data management systems like Denodo and Veronis.
Experience with Microsoft 365 services and concepts (Azure AD, Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Teams, etc.).
Work Environment:
Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
