Manufacturing Engineer - Business System Improvement Lead - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, Ohio
Acts as the NOGB Business lead representing Manufacturing Engineering in the testing, process development, system requirement identification, and deployment of a MES (Manufacturing Execution System) solution at the Barberton facility. Will work with the Digital Transformation Team, IT Team, MES vendor representatives & contractors, and NOGM & NOGE Leads to configure and deploy a MES solution that is functional at the NOG Northern Sites.
Responsibilities include:
Represents Manufacturing Engineering in discussions to define MES system requirements and the business processes that will utilize the MES solution.
Works to implement Manufacturing Instruction and Scheduling improvements such as, alternate routings, parallel sequences, routing standards, etc. throughout the Engineering Product Teams.
Frequently coordinates meetings with Manufacturing Engineering users and other support departments to obtain input on MES system requirements and key decision points on system configuration.
Coordinates with multiple departments on deployment of the NOGB MES Pilot, and capturing lessons learned during testing to inform future system deployment and configuration adjustments.
Assists in the develop, review, and approval of system documentation, user training documentation, and business procedure updates to deploy the MES solution.
Develops system dashboards and reports for user information and key business processes to monitor department performance and obtain product fabrication information.
Leverages lean production knowledge and product manufacturing experience to advance Manufacturing Engineering's ability to deploy manufacturing instructions through the MES and increase the use of visual tools in the manufacturing instructions.
Develops MES training plans, training materials, and other associated documents for Engineers. Monitors and carries out training plans with system users.
Assists in the resolution of issues and questions during the training and deployment of the MES system.
Works with Digital Transformation Project Management and Manufacturing Engineering Business Managers to develop deployment plans and track progress to the deployment plan.
Regularly communicates with Business Managers, users, and vendor representatives to raise questions and challenges for timely resolution and communicate resource needs to meet project deadlines.
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Industrial Management or equivalent experience. Degree is preferred.
Miniunum of 4 years' manufacturing or project engineering experience with demonstrated leadership characteristics
Strong communication and coordination skills, interest in working with multiple disciplines in support of component manufacture, process design, and component design/specification development.
Strong leadership, coordination, project planning and technical writing skills.
