Our work depends on Systems Engineer Sr Advisor joining our team to to support programs at the Rensselaer Data Center in Albany NY. You will support Midrange storage environments running on a variety of hardware, including NAS, SAN, and cloud based.
HOW A SYSTEMS ENGINEER SR ADVISOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing storage systems
Interface with the different Lines of service, including Windows, UNIX, Network, Mainframe to perform Hardware and Software support and upgrades, Disaster Recovery Exercises and problem resolution
Interface with programs in support of the Application, Architecture and Client Teams
Work closely with the clients to ensure they attain service levels
Provide system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance to less-experienced professionals
Serve as task lead to design and implement solutions in a high-availability, mission critical environment
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science, (Information Technology, Computer Science preferred)
Required Experience: 10+ years of related experience in storage engineering, including NAS, SANS, fiber channel configurations, maintaining offsite replicated environments, Windows and Unix Environments, Virtual Environments, S3 Storage Applications, Backup Applications. Experience with Tape Libraries and Mainframes is a plus.
Required Technical Skills:
NAS (utilizing both NFS and CIFS communication protocols, replication (Netapp preferred)
SAN configuration and management - (HDS preferred)
Fiber Channel switches configuration, zoning and management (Brocade preferred)
Extension switches configuration, zoning and management
Preferred Technical Skills:
Backup applications familiarity (Netbackup, UNITRENDS preferred)
S3 protocol storage devices (ie. Cloudian)
Business Continuity knowledge and support
In addition, familiarity with the following:
Virtual Tape Environments (ie. Luminex)
IBM Tape Libraries
IBM Mainframe knowledge

The likely salary range for this position is $127,500 - $172,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
