Salary:
$3,042.67 - $5,416.67 per month commensurate with experience.
Job Description Summary:
The Technologist I, under general supervision, uses principles and theories or engineering, math and science to solve technical problems within mechanical, electrical, and other system-level elements of the teamed autonomy research. Project assignments require initiative and independent judgment. Researchers at BCOC are investigating cooperative autonomy to extend capabilities and leverage heterogeneous fleet resources. The goal is to help facilitate effective intelligent vehicle interactions with service members to foster the trust essential lo forming efficient teams. Successful, intelligent vehicles will increase unit capabilities, situational awareness, mobility, and speed or action. The research team regularly demonstrates the developing technologies that enable coordinated movement with our heterogeneous multi-vehicle fleet in the diverse off-road terrain at the RELLIS campus. The BCDC located on the 2,000-acre RELLIS Campus in Bryan. The BCOC is the result of a partnership between the U.S. Army Futures Command and The Texas A&M University System and the Stale or Texas. The $200 million complex is designed to bring together researchers from U.S. universities, the military and the private sector for collaboration, demonstrations. and high-tech testing or initiatives to help accelerate military innovation for our nation's defense.
Responsibilities: - Collaborate on design, prototyping and integration of robotic payloads for autonomous vehicles.- Design and execute field testing experiments and data collection for evaluation of robotic payloads and integrated system performance.- Provides technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise.- Utilizes established engineering principles in the design and evaluation of engineering components.- Create and interpret technical drawings and schematics.- Maintain logistics of project inventory, organization, and ordering using 5S method.- Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches with some guidance.- Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities.- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic knowledge of computer-aided drafting techniques, and design.- Basic knowledge of mathematical formulas and computations and data gathering methods.- Ability to regularly track project logistics via custom spreadsheet and tools- Basic knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.- Ability to effectively communicate engineering solutions both verbally and in writing to management, customers, and peers.
Must possess, or be able to gain and maintain, a Department of Defense security clearance.
