Opportunity
The CEMS Technician is responsible for performing calibration, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair on a variety of continuous emission monitoring systems for the mill.
Required Qualifications
At least five yearsu2019 experience in industry, preferably in pulp and paper.
Associate degree in Electrical and Instrumentation or related technical field preferred. Electrical experience is desirable.
Ability to use various test equipment such as multi meters, and other electronic test equipment to troubleshoot instruments.
Experience with troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of industrial instrumentation and associated devices. Experience with environmental continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS) & continuous opacity emission monitoring systems (COMS) preferred.
Ability to work at heights, climb stairs and ladders, and bend or stoop for long periods in varying weather conditions. Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
Proficient computer skills (including MS Office, most importantly Excel and Microsoft Word).
Willing and able to walk and work in an industrial location indoors or outdoors, including walking up and down steps and ladders with all safety equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, steel-toed shoes, etc.)

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock
The CEMS Technician will perform the following work functions:
Monitor and maintain CEMS equipment, including calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various emission monitors.
Perform preventative & predictive maintenance of the monitors, with focus on optimization and reliability of equipment.
Maintain detailed records of repairs of the monitors and ensure necessary spare parts are always on site to maintain the monitors.
Participate in environmental stack testing and audits.
Operate data acquisition systems and utilize software to generate reports
Quickly acquire knowledge of the environmental compliance requirements of 40 CFR Part 75, 40 CFR Part 60, and rules related to CEMS Maintenance and Quality Control & Quality Assurance.
Prepare routine environmental reports for the Title V Air Permit Program
Linearities, CGAs, Opacity Filter Checks, Particulate Monitor
Quarterly and semi-annual excess emission reports
Collect routine samples and perform inspections as requested.
Weekend and holiday duty. Report approximately every fifth week on weekends and holidays. While on call duty, check for permit deviations, conduct laboratory sampling and analysis, and respond accordingly. Be able to work overtime as needed.
