Position Overview:
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Activity Specialists to join our After School Programs. As an Activity Specialist, you will play a key role in fostering a positive and engaging environment for middle and elementary school students. By designing and leading activities across various disciplines, you will support students in developing new skills while having fun.
We have multiple openings for specialists in the following areas:
Sports
Dance
Art
Academics
Leadership
Literacy
Music
Theater
Karate
Leadership Development
STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math)
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership: Implement program policies to ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment in alignment with QCH's standards.
Curriculum Development: Create age-appropriate lesson plans that engage students and meet program goals.
Team Collaboration: Partner with after-school staff on thematic projects and take direction from senior program staff.
Communication: Maintain clear communication with program directors, families, teachers, and other stakeholders.
Student Support: Assist students with homework, fostering academic success and personal growth.
Event Coordination: Organize special events and activities to enrich the student experience.
Safety & Supervision: Ensure the safety and security of all participants and program spaces.
Professional Development: Participate in staff meetings and complete required training sessions.
Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors to ensure program success.
Qualifications:
Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
Education: Enrolled in a related college program (e.g., Education, Human Development, Sociology, Human Services) with at least two years of coursework completed.
Experience: Minimum of three years of experience leading youth activities, preferably in after-school or camp settings.
Specialization: Proven expertise in the specific content area for which you are applying.
Skills: Strong facilitation, conflict resolution, and group management skills, particularly with youth. Experience in skill development and gender-based programming is a plus.
Personal Qualities: Organized, self-motivated, and professional. Ability to inspire and engage youth in leadership and skill-building activities.
Technical Skills: Proficient in basic computer applications with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Clearance: Must pass NYS DOH Fingerprinting, NYS Clearance Review Background Check, three reference checks, and a physical exam with an updated TB test.
Status: Part-Time
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM
