Materials Engineer (Rail, Tunnel, Stations, Roads, Highway)

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Materials Engineer to join our team! As part of the engineering team, the Materials Engineer will lead the technical management of material and component performance to improve liability, safety and reduce cost of concrete and earthworks. The Materials Engineer will be providing all necessary assistance to the construction team with respect to all materials submittals, approvals, testing, sampling, etc. He will participate in the quality control of materials including all the laboratory and field testing, acceptance of used materials, checking and accepting all remedial and corrective measures. He will supervise the works of the Materials Inspectors.
What You'll Be Doing:
Materials Engineer is assigned to coordinate the work and record keeping of the materials review, testing and approval.
Field testing set-up, organization, maintenance and operation.
Review of materials submittals, mix design for concrete and asphalt in accordance to the project specification, witnessing of design mix process
Supervision of staff assistants performing sampling of materials, and coordination with the testing laboratory.
Participate in sampling, monitor testing, record keeping and reporting in accordance with:
Employer’s Policy and Procedures Directives.

Copy all test results to the Assistant Resident Engineer/ Resident Engineer and the Contractor
Report any failing or “borderline” test results immediately to the the Assistant Resident Engineer/ Resident Engineer. Monitor and document the remedial action taken to meet Specifications.
Coordinate with the Inspector in charge of the work to confirm approval of the work for testing and discuss areas of concern.
Coordinate with the contractor on work priorities and schedules.
Perform sampling and testing as quickly and efficient as possible to avoid undue delay to the Contractor’s operations.
Perform regular checks of material delivered to the project for conformance with the approved source or supplier.
Maintain neat accurate records.
Monitor the frequency and number of tests required for every operation.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with minimum 10+ years demonstrable experience in Concrete, Materials and Quality Control and on major Rail, Tunnel, Stations, Road, Highway and general infrastructure projects preferably in the Gulf region.
Should be able to review and justify the material submissions analyze laboratory and technical reports, carry out acceptance sampling plans, testing and quality measures, ensuring the compliance with the project’s Specifications.
Must have a sound knowledge about contractual relationships.
