Corporate Quality/Safety Manager
Fortis Industries is seeking an experienced Quality/Safety (QC / SSHO)
Manager to lead the successful execution of internal programs and processes
that support our business model and strategic planning. This position will
work out of our Denver, CO office.
Responsibilities:
Identify, assess, and communicate conformance with regulatory and
corporate quality and safety expectations.
Plan and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local,
state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
rules and regulations.
Maintain safety files, records, and document control per safety &
quality management systems.
Monitor and maintain contract submittals.
Maintain safety, quality, and compliance information in a cloud-based program.
Manage safety topics, scorecards, materials, approvals, and safety
related contracts for all locations.
Partner with management in incident investigations, ensuring appropriate
processes are followed. Review workers compensation claims.
Interface with local managers, customers, auditors and ensure the
execution of corrective and preventative actions and compliance with customer
specifications.
Work with local manager to ensure quality inspection requirements are met and
procedures are followed.
Oversee International Standards Organization (ISO) documentation
management compliance internally and outside contracts. Prepare and support
sites for compliance with ISO standards and audits.
Manage ISO and Safety Audit Schedules; conduct site visits.
Determine training requirements and facilitate development and implementation
of safety training programs - to include Activity or Job Hazard Analyses
(AHAs or JHAs). Manage Safety training criteria for the company.
Facilitate improvement opportunities in routine risk identification, and
control programs (e.g., incident investigation, near miss incidents,
development of safe work procedures, etc.)
Develop and monitor quality and consistency of incident investigation and
reporting process.
Identify define, and promote awareness of customer requirements. Manage
customer compliance related inquiries which may include questionnaires, etc.
Identify and support standard operating procedures for quality, safety,
and compliance policies across the organization.
Ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with all applicable
OSHA and EM 385-1-1, and other applicable regulations as well as meeting
contractual quality requirements.
Conduct periodic site inspections, recording all violations and note what
remediation needs to occur to keep the project moving safely.
Coordinate response to on-site emergencies, and interface with off-site and
on-site emergency response entities.
Frequent travel will be required as a part of this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a safety, compliance, or quality discipline with 5
or more years' experience in Quality and Safety management; preferably in
government contracting with a focus on preparing and enforcing quality and
safety programs.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) required or ability to obtain within 6
months
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is a plus
USACE Construction Quality Manager (CQM) certification
OSHA 30-hour General Industry or Construction Certification (within past 3
years)
EM 385-1-1 Training Program Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
Current First Aid/CPR/AED Training
ISO certification experience is a plus.
Must be able to pass DOD security clearance for base access.
Must pass background check and drug screening.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
24-hours of continuous Safety Training annually
Managerial and/or supervisory experience
Experience working with cross-divisional teams.
Ability to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction.
Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects in a timely
manner.
Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly
changing priorities with enthusiasm and a sense of urgency.
Well versed in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
