Job Description:
The Production Planniong Specialist is responsible for developing and flowing down the details of the production plan, which derived from the overall Master Production Schedule based on customer demand. The individual is responsible for establishing and implementing Production and Material requirements to ensure successful on-time delivery of Production and Repair hardware. This is a hands on position that is responsible for the recognition of risk items, reporting to management and assisting with formulation and implementation of solutions. This planning position is also responsible for ensuring material ordering to support Production demands, develop material schedules, and coordinates the efficient movement of materials with purchasing, receiving, inspection and production.
Essential Functions:
- Use of automated MRP system based on Costpoint software to accomplish the planning function.
- Oversee activities related to material/inventory control and production scheduling.
- Determine and implement best-practice manufacturing kitting.
- Develop, implement and maintain shop floor control, MRP and material control policies.
- Ensure material is ordered to support Production demands.
- Develop material schedules and coordinate the efficient movement of materials with purchasing, Quality and production.
- Monitor production and repair flow, communicate delivery status and expedite as required to support manufacturing and customer schedules.
- Review requirements for purchasing materials.
- Prepare material requirements plans using enterprise resource planning system
- Assists in resolving procurement discrepancies and works closely with suppliers, finance, receiving and other internal departments.
- Prepares reports and participates in meetings.
- Demonstrates ethical and professional behavior in accordance with company values.
- Perform job duties in a manner that maintains compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations, policies and procedures

Qualifications:
- United States citizen
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- 2+ years hands on experience with inventory management
- 2+ years manufacturing support experience in production planning and / or scheduling
- 2+ years experience with an automotated MRP system within a manufacturing environment to manage material
- 1+ years experience leading and performing problem solving methods, root cause analysis and production analysis
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience in a laser or electro-optical environment preferred.
- CostPoint experience preferred.
- Proven success in a fast paced, high volume, medium mix, development and manufacturing environment and possess a willingness to take ownership, accept accountability, and thrive under pressure.
- Able to work weekends and evenings as required to meet company objectives.
