The Alaka'ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has an opening for a Lead Network Software Engineer (LNSE) to provide support for the life cycle sustainment of the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) Battle Stations 21 (BST-21) program out of Orlando, FL.
The successful candidate will lead a team responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable software systems that support critical simulation training needs. This role requires diverse and demonstrated expertise in software engineering, cyber security practices, and networking protocols to meet National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) SP 800-53 requirements and achieve an Authorization to Operate (ATO) certification for the network.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Implement advanced cyber security protocols and frameworks to protect systems from unauthorized access, vulnerabilities, and cyber threats.
Lead the design and integration of robust networking solutions, including LAN/WAN infrastructure, firewalls, VPNs, and secure communication channels.
Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of software solutions that ensure the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of DoD systems.
Develops, tests, deploys, and maintains custom software.
Lead and participate in code reviews, design reviews, and architecture discussions to ensure high-quality solutions.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and meet security compliance standards.
Ensure proper documentation of software architecture, security frameworks, and network configurations for audit and maintenance purposes.
Lead a multidisciplinary team of software engineers, security specialists, and network engineers, providing mentorship, technical performance evaluations, and technical guidance.
Work closely with internal DoD stakeholders, subcontractors, and other internal and external Integrated Product Team members (IPT) to align refresh solutions with broader defense objectives.
Assign technical tasks to team members based on their individual strengths and abilities
Help build the skill sets of team members and share learnings with other employees
Achieve organizational goals while adhering to standards and best practices
Ensuring CDRLs and documents are developed in accordance with program specifications.
Collecting and accumulating appropriate technical information and data through researching and analyzing Government Furnished Information (GFI) of technical data and publications, engineering drawings, test procedures, design specifications/documentation, software description documents, engineering documents, and logistics documents.
Working in a team environment, taking direction with minimal follow-up to complete a task/project.
Travel may be required up between 25%-50%
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Eight to ten (8-10) years of demonstrable experience of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, BGP) and experience in securing network infrastructure.
Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician (CCENT) or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
At least eight (8) years' experience in software development with a focus on security and networking.
Experience in DoD SETR event, security frameworks and protocols such as RMF, NIST, and DISA STIGs.
Ability to grasp new concepts quickly; to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately analyze, document and develop technical procedures.
Ability to work independently in a team environment.
Experience with the Navy, Navy training system, or Navy ships is highly preferred.
DESIRED EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
??Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Engineering, or similar discipline. Ten (10) years of direct experience may substitute in lieu of a degree.
