The Twelfth Judicial Circuit is accepting applications for a Pretrial Services Caseworker vacancy in Sarasota County. The position is in the Intake Unit. The Intake Unit is a 24-hour operation, with two 12-hour shifts. Working nights, weekends and holidays are part of this position, which includes a 6% shift differential for working nights once training is completed.
A few of your daily responsibilities:
Interview defendants and victims;
Review criminal histories, backgrounds, and verify information;
Conduct mental health and substance abuse assessments;
Write reports for the Court;
Attend court hearings.

Effective and concise written and oral communication;
Knowledge of investigative and fact-gathering techniques;
Ability to observe, interpret, assess and record behavioral events;
Ability to organize and prioritize work;
Ability to take effective action and exercise sound judgment in emergency or crisis situations;
Ability to interact with individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

Hours: 40 hours/week with scheduled hours Sunday-Saturday between 6 pm-6 am. Two-week schedule rotations.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
B achelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in criminal justice, counseling, social or behavioral science or a related field.
Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college degree.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five (5) years.
CJIS Clearance: The successful candidate will be subject to an extensive background check(s) as a part of the hiring process.

Starting Pay: $21.63/hour
