Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sr. Principal Radar Electronics Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Radar Integration Team. This role is located in Melbourne FL.
Qualified candidates will apply strong engineering knowledge and will have the opportunity to work on multiple tasks including but not limited to: System Architecture/Concept Development, Candidate Technology Trade Studies, Requirements Development and Derivation, Algorithm Development, Performance Analysis, Data Analysis, and work with cross-disciplinary hardware, software, and firmware teams.
The candidate will support the strike division radar integration team and will be responsible for development and implementation of new and existing high fidelity, physics-based radar system performance models, complex algorithms, threat models, and command & control models. This role may also include developing / analyzing AESA arrays, modeling array performance, predicting performance as installed on airborne platform.
Essential Functions:
Development of mathematical algorithms for mode/sensor implementation
Develops software to model behavior of systems in real-time and constructive simulations of sensors and other platforms.
Solicit input from various stakeholders, synthesize data, and communicate results to various levels of leadership within the organization.
Technical team leadership participating in technical peer reviews throughout the product lifecycle of design, development, integration and test, flight test requirements verification, and sustainment.
Perform mission engineering activities to ensure continuity between desired operational capabilities and delivered system performance, through the Systems Engineering "V". Ensure performance capabilities of new systems and architectures are traded against cost and mission requirements and assess operational effectiveness of existing and emerging systems and capabilities in representative operational environments.
Guiding the team through development/implementation activities.
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 8 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 6 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. in STEM discipline AND 4 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.
An active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance (required to start)
Ability to obtain and maintain a Special Program Access (PAR/SAP) within a reasonable amount of time, prior to start.
Experience with Signals processing and Radar systems
Experience with electronics systems performance analysis, test or integration
Experience with MATLAB, C/C++, Python, or related languages
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong desire to learn, take initiative and contribute in a team-oriented environment
Knowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentation
Demonstrated experience with Air-to-Air and/or Air-to-Ground modes
Demonstrated mathematical problem-solving ability and data analysis experience
Demonstrated interpersonal communication, presentation skills, verbal and written communication skills
Work experience with one of the following areas related to radar systems: search or track, surveillance, reconnaissance, electronic protection, ID, or adaptive technique
Customer focus and collaboration skills
Demonstrated team leadership experience
An understanding of the physical limitations to implementing complex algorithms in real hardware
A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance with current or previous Special Program Access (SAP)/SCI.
Salary Range: $114,900 - $172,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
