Description
Lee County is searching for a highly motivated and dedicated individual to work in our Facilities Construction and Management department as an on-call normal and emergency response. This position is responsible for performing complex repairs, and building maintenance for all Lee County Detention Centers. The ideal candidate will have basic electrical, mechanical and plumbing experience.
This is an On-Call position which will require you to work on an as-needed basis at the detention centers with varying work schedules. Must be able to work varying and flexible hours and days. Monday - Friday 3:30 pm - 6:00 am; Saturday and Sunday all day, or as required or scheduled.
This position will require, at a minimum, 3 months of training in the jail from 7:00 am - 3:30 pm before being placed on call.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responds to request received through on-call phone calls and completes request in a timely manner.
Escorts vendors and contractors for necessary building repairs and emergencies.
Works in a safe manner and recognizes unsafe situations.
Takes appropriate action to ensure safety of themselves and others in building.
Maintains proper tool inventory for themselves and vendor/contractors.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Licensing
Requires any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to graduation from high school/GED and two years of building maintenance experience including plumbing, electrical, and/or mechanical (HVAC).
Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.
This position requires ability to pass an NCIC background check and to undergo fingerprinting to obtain security clearances from Lee County Sheriff's Office and the State Attorney's office in addition to the standard Consumer Report based background check that is required for conditional offers of employment.
Supplemental Information
Incumbent must have the ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, dig, crawl in tight spaces, reach, stoop, squat, lift 60 pounds, work outside during all seasons, and work in small spaces in extreme temperatures.
The incumbent is expected to report to work during emergencies and when called, unless excused by management as the duties performed in the position are essential.
This is an on-call position with a minimum of 20 hours per pay period.
