SUMMARY
Responsible for managing a team of Cloud Systems Architects and DevOps Engineers in their day-to-day operations in support of a U.S. Department of Defense customer's AWS Cloud Information Technology (IT) systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for interfacing with the customer at all levels, serving as technical advisor for Katmai, and helping to translate the customer's needs into working technical solutions.
Support the design and deployment of current and future architecture, future architectural vision, and migration planning for the cloud architecture.
Collaborate with engineering teams to understand customer requirements and develop tailored cloud solutions using AWS.
Work closely with customer to help identify and adopt cutting-edge technologies for our client's infrastructure.
Take responsibility for the ideation process, requirement assessment, and consulting processes.
Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers to drive customer success and satisfaction.
Brief customers on current technical status and future changes to the technical infrastructure.
Develop and execute strategies, including maintenance of a roadmap and ensuring customer buy-in.
Foster a culture of team building, mentoring, and personnel development.
Serve as technical liaison between management, engineers, and customers/stakeholders.
Assist with employee hiring, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations.
Act as a technical and business consultant to our clients before, during, and after deployment.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead a team of Architects and DevOps Engineers in day-to-day tasking priorities and work assignments.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
Five plus (5+) years of personnel leadership experience, with a track record of successfully leading technical teams.
Three plus (3+) years of experience designing or implementing cloud and/or IT systems.
Ability to create cost estimates for proposed cloud/IT designs.
Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
Must be able to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
AWS/cloud experience.
CompTIA Security+ and AWS certification.
Strong knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Operating systems, containerized environments, and scripting tools such as Python, bash, etc.
Prior U.S. military service.
Prior Federal Government employment experience.
A general knowledge of Federal Cybersecurity processes and requirements.
Demonstrated ability to perform diverse duties while operating under time constraints.
Demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work to ensure quality.
Leadership experience, with a track record of successfully leading technical teams.
Experience working closely with other Team Leads and Scrum Masters to create Agile tasking.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
A drive to learn new things and an interest in the cloud technologies.
Self-motivated to keep up to date with cloud evolution and understand how it can bring value to our customers.
Ownership for IT upgrades and enhancements from their inception to completion.
Strong work ethic, track record of high productivity and technical execution.
TRAINING REIMBURSEMENT AGREEMENT
Specialized training and certifications may be required for this position. Training and exam costs will be provided by Katmai. Employees will be required to sign a Training Reimbursement Agreement that states that if unable to complete certifications within two months after employment starts or if employment is terminated within the first year, all or a percentage of the training costs must be reimbursed. Details of this reimbursement agreement will be described in a separate document.
WORK SCHEDULE
Full-Time. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or special projects.
TRAVEL
The expected travel time is less than 10%.
DRIVING REQUIREMENTS
Must have or be able to attain a valid state driver's license and be insurable on the company's automobile insurance policy. Driving, with or without accommodation, may be required when traveling for training and/or short occasional amounts of local driving. The expected driving time is less than 10%.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is expected to be remote; however, the company reserves the right to require onsite work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position consists of sitting for long periods of time. Frequently uses hands/fingers for manipulation of keyboard and mouse. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS *: *
Pay is $142,000 to $164,000 per year.
