JOB SUMMARY:
Perform lead custodial duties at a Department of Transportation Rest Area facility efficiently and effectively.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The list of essential functions below is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this job. Other duties may be assigned based on business needs.
Oversee the activities of the custodial staff to ensure the accomplishment of daily activities when the supervisor is not present.
Ensures quality assurance standards are met by doing visual inspections and making any necessary corrections.
Provide ongoing training to custodial staff.
Perform custodial work according to the specified contracted methods of cleaning.
Cleaning responsibilities include:
removal/disposal of trash
cleaning of offices including dusting, vacuuming, and/or sweeping
cleaning of restrooms including mopping, disinfecting, and cleaning mirrors, partitions, toilets, and sinks.
stock paper and soap supplies
Properly dispose of any hazardous waste material.
Pick up litter from outside the foyer and grass areas.
Maintain supplies and equipment under established procedures.
Perform other specified custodial tasks as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Employer conducts a background screening for access to the work areas.
Employer conducts a pre-employment drug test.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Must have and maintain a valid Drivers License with a clean driving record.

Prior experience in custodial work.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Oversee day-to-day operations when the Supervisor is not present.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior experience working as a lead custodian.
Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities.
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions to perform this job successfully.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requirements will vary depending on the assigned tasks. This position requires the following: repetitive lifting, push/pull, carrying, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, and prolonged standing. Will involve lifting/moving up to 40 pounds. Reasonable accommodation, when practical, can be offered to accomplish the above requirements.
SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Working conditions are predominantly at the Rest Area Facility, outdoors, and may be exposed to inclement weather or indoors in areas that are not air-conditioned.
Will need to use any personal protective (safety) equipment as designated properly and consistently.
Involves exposure to hazardous materials (i.e., cleaning solutions and bio-waste hazards). Hepatitis inoculation is recommended and provided without cost to the incumbent. By OSHA standards, training will be provided before the initial assignment to tasks where these exposures may occur.
