The Media Research Analyst will perform media tracking, monitoring, discovery, analysis and reporting. The individual willassess external communication materials and identify all types of coverage for reports to be delivered Monday through Friday mornings, based on topics provided regularly by SMDC PAO.The contractor shall utilize media monitoring software and other research methods to identify and analyze content about SMDCafter each daily news cycle in the late afternoon or evening hours.
In this role, you will:
Extracting articles and other published content from various sources as outlined above, analyzing them for appropriate content and assembling them into a specified template.
Assess morning DoD internal reports for information on the same topics and utilize all findings to develop reports to be delivered by 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.
Write analysis of articles and other reports and documents as needed, based on need of the customer.
Provide the Public Affairs Office additional depth to research, analyze and collect media coverage of SMDC and specific related subject matter in order to provide daily reports to senior leaders in the command, to include the three-star commanding general.
Utilize daily reports in decision making regarding public release, comment and content of speaking engagements.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A U.S. citizenship.
A B.A. in Journalism, Communications or Public Relations or related field or equivalent work experience in a news media setting.
Two (2) years of relevant experience.
Assist in the preparation of regular media reports by the Public Affairs Office.
Tasks will include: identification, categorization and prioritization of media content of value and interest to command leadership.
Experience in media reporting, analysis and the use of media monitoring software.
Experience in or familiarity with news reporting, journalism, the news cycle.
Familiarity with news outlets and niche media outlets and audiences.
Experience with or familiarity with media monitoring services.
The ability to read and summarize news articles.
The ability to meet daily deadlines.
The ability to work a non-traditional schedule.
The ability to work with minimal supervision.
