We are hiring a full-time Technical Writer to support the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (OUSD) Acquisition and Sustainment (A&S) Cyber Warfare Directorate. This is an opportunity to have a direct impact on the success of a high-profile DoD program with Congressional mandates for the national security of DoD systems.? In this role, you will collaborate on requirements with Cyber Security peers and government counterparts.? This is an excellent opportunity to develop and lead your own team.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement customized technical documents. Gather information about needs, objectives, functions, features, and requirements. Perform writing tasks for technical documents, such as user manuals, installation manuals, help documents, and tutorials. Requires effective planning, scheduling, researching, and writing skills.
Translate complex technical findings into clear, concise, and visually compelling documents, reports, and presentations.
Create data visualizations, charts, and graphical representations of assessment results to deliver to stakeholders and executive leadership.
Collaborate with cybersecurity engineers, analysts, and management to gather technical input and refine documentation.
Participate in or lead stakeholder meetings to gather information when required.
Develop document process flow procedures and documentation.
Develop deliverable templates for reports and standardize terminology, formats, and styles across all documentation to enhance clarity and usability.
Provide editorial oversight for team-generated documents, ensuring technical accuracy and quality.
Manage a document repository, ensuring secure and organized storage for templates and finished products.
Potential for travel up to 20%
Education/Qualifications
Required:
Active DoD Secret security clearance.
Ability to obtain DoD TS/SCI security clearance
4+ years of technical writing or equivalent educational experience.
Ability to accurately translate technical information for a general audience.
Experience handling various levels of classified data and appropriate classification marking practices.
Familiarity with cyber security practices and terminology.
Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite, or tools like Visio for diagrams.
Preferred:
Technical Writing or MS Office certifications.
BA/BS in English, writing, communications, or related field.
DoD 8140 Certification such as CompTIA Security+.
6+ years of technical writing in a DoD environment.
