Lockheed Martin Space is currently seeking a Summer 2025 Intern. As a model developer/analyst Intern in the Huntsville Operations Analysis Group (aka "Possum Works") you will join a dynamic team environment with a unique culture supporting a myriad of Independent Research and Development (IRAD) projects and selected program tasks. The chemistry of the team is critical to our success. The candidate is expected to be highly motivated to solve strike and missile defense problems at the conceptual level. The candidate will be expected to interface with senior analysts and program leadership. This person will be responsible for supporting code development, conducting analysis runs, threat trajectory generation, and maintenance of post processors for COBRA (a coverage/battlespace/requirements analysis tool) and GHOST (a sensors and threats tool) models. This person will develop an understanding of Strike and Missile Defense system simulations and analysis and will be responsible for:
Developing a working knowledge of MD system functions, scientific principles, technologies, and operations;
Translating interceptor, radar, and battle management concepts into simulation input;
Support the operation maintaining of simulation codes;
Generating output to support analysis products;
Developing MATLAB models of algorithms, optimization techniques, hit-to-kill physics and data processors;
Working in a fast paced, high work volume, highly technical, small team environment;
Working across LINUX and Windows operating systems.
Basic Qualifications:
Currently Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program majoring in engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or STEM program.
Ability to receive and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and Top Secret Clearance
Strong MATLAB skills
Strong communications skills and ability to document work in memorandum form
Willingness to take on detailed technical assignments often requiring learning or developing advanced math models and algorithms
Desired Skills:
Active DoD Secret Clearance,
Strong C++ or other modern programming language software development skills
Missile defense threat knowledge
Familiarity with AFSIM and STK
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
