Basic Qualifications
Minimum of 25 weeks of military technical training school, along with an additional 6 years of related experience is required. OR, 2 years of directly related non-military technical trade school or the equivalent experience, along with an additional 6 years of related experience is required. Industry certifications are highly preferred. Field service or technical activity is preferred. Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Field Support Representative (FSR) to support the Rescue 21 equipment within the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Sector's New York and Long Island Sound operating area. The selected candidate will be required to drive a company-supplied vehicle to maintain Rescue 21 sites including, but not limited to, USCG Sector New York Command Center, located on Staten Island, NY, 9 USCG Stations, and 5 Remote Fixed Facilities (RFFs).
The selected candidate will be in, or will relocate to, an area within approximately 50 miles of New York City, NY.
The FSR will work out of their home and have a GDMS supplied vehicle, tools, spares, and the supplies necessary to maintain the assigned Rescue 21 sites. The primary responsibility of this role is for the system, equipment, and customer support for the Rescue 21 RF communications and Direction-Finding system at USCG Rescue 21 sites along the Long Island Sound/NYC area. The FSR will provide emergency 24 X 7 corrective maintenance response and total system preventive maintenance coverage which will require 2 to 6 hours of driving for site access. As a secondary responsibility for this role, the FSR will travel up to 25% of the time, outside the normal area of responsibility supporting other FSR's throughout the continental U.S., Hawaii, USVI, Puerto Rico, and Guam. The successful candidate will have a detailed knowledge of system operations and the ability to discover, document, and repair equipment failures in accordance with proper procedures and methods. This FSR will work independently in most situations and will prepare and submit periodic status reports and inventories as required by operational procedures.
Field activities will include installing, maintaining, integrating, troubleshooting, testing, and servicing fielded systems and equipment at customer sites. The FSR will diagnose and repair, mechanical, HVAC, generators, hardware, software, and system failures using established procedures and will submit reports on system reliability metrics to technical and regional support centers. Additionally, the FSR will set up and utilize specialized test and diagnostic equipment to isolate malfunctions. The FSR will work closely with design engineering in evaluating product performance and in conducting field trials, start-up, cutover, and checkout activities on newly installed systems. This position will work with more senior FSR's to plan and emplace system configuration to meet specific mission requirements, conduct technical seminars and training for customers, conduct informal on the job training for other field service staff members and customers, and deliver over-the shoulder/refresher training to users in the field as required.
Target salary range: USD $41.64/Hr. - USD $44.66/Hr. This estimate
