Our Earth & Environment team is seeking a Full-Time Construction Materials Testing Intern - Summer 2025 to work out of our Louisville, KY office. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program.
This internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program. As a summer intern, you have the opportunity to participate in our 12-week program scheduled to start on May 19th, 2025. The individual start date of the internship may be flexible.
Your Impact
Performs construction-related field and laboratory tests as directed by the Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Manager and Technician Supervisor.
Travel to various construction sites primarily in Louisville, Kentucky and surrounding areas.
Relays information to project manager and/or engineer, with limited in-field decision making.
Transports equipment, test specimens and/or documents to field personnel, laboratory, provides physical assistance in equipment set-up.
Enters daily field observation reports and summary reports electronically as necessary.
Performs field quality control tests of in place concrete as well as field density testing on soil, concrete, asphalt and other construction materials.
Assists laboratory personnel with concrete and soils testing as well as assisting other technicians, departments, or professional staff on additional tasks.
Field activities may require physical strength, stamina and dexterity to lift and move up to 70 lbs, stoop, bend, and stand throughout the course of up to a 12-hour workday in varying weather conditions in varying terrain.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or related, Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2025 or later.
Must be 18 or older.
Demonstrated interest in Construction Materials Testing or related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP's work and projects.
Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
Must be willing to travel within Louisville metro as required by assignments.
Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.??
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
Preferred Qualifications
Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or related, Master's or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2025 or later.
Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.
