Job Description
Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is looking for a qualified individual to fill the role of a System Engineer to support US Navy customers. The candidate in this position will be providing network support to dedicated enterprise Navy networks, under the engineering oversight of the PEO DIGITAL. The candidate will be a member of a network engineering and operations team supporting transport networks, distributed globally to shore-based sites and ships. Candidates will focus on the network engineering and deployment of the Sailor Edge Afloat and Ashore (SEA2) system. This position will report to the SEA2 Network Engineering Lead.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility of integrated DoD IT solutions including network, hardware, software, and installations
Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel and tasks to phases and elements
Develop plans & strategies to execute project phases, elements, and milestones within allotted timeline
Author Standard Operating Procedures and other process implementation documents
Perform Requirements Management by data gathering and liaising with subject matter experts
Determine project schedule by consulting with subject matter experts; studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements
Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; identifying & resolving problems
Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommend actions
Define, generate, and review technical project requirements documentation
Communicate technical project status and milestones to government stakeholders, briefing technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Perform technical risk management to minimize project risks
Ensure that organizational processes are followed while submitting deliverables according to government-specified acceptance criteria
Solid organizational skills including attention to detail
Capable of tracking and prioritizing multiple tasks
Self-motivated and driven desire to succeed with minimal direction
Ability to work both in a team and individually
Excellent written and verbal communication skill
Minimum Qualifications
9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
Strong experience with monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and configuring HPE/ARUBA/SilverPeak networking/SD-WAN equipment.
Familiarity configuring and managing pfSense software and NETGATE branded HW devices.
Familiarity with configuring 5G cellular modems, routers, and transceivers.
Ability to troubleshoot network issues at the protocol/packet level using sniffers, protocol analyzers, netflow, logging, etc.
Knowledge of internetworking including IP addressing (subnets, CIDR), switching (VLANs, 802.1q, IGMP, etc..) and routing (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, PIM, multicast, etc.) and ARUBA OS/AOS-CX.
Strong Experience with Department of Defense Security Technical Implementation Guidelines.
Experience with network and performance monitoring tools (Cisco IP SLA, SolarWinds, HP NA, NetFlow).
Experience in network security, tools, and technologies including NextGen firewalls, VRFs, 802,1x, and port-security.
Experience engineering technical network solutions
Experience integrating multi-vendor hardware/software (Aruba/Netgate, etc...)
Experience deploying and integrating virtual environments
Experience working with wireless network solutions
Experience working in a government contracting environment
Experience with installing and troubleshooting WAN and LAN network equipment, with NSA Type 1 KG cryptographic devices and keymat, particularly KG-175D/G/F KG devices, a plus.
Must be willing to work periodic shifted schedules for engineering installations to include evening, night, and weekend.
Must be willing to travel CONUS and OCONUS (4-8 times per year).
Must be a US Citizen, possess a current or able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
CompTIA Security+ Certification and Cisco Certified CyberOps/Network Associate Certification required.
Preferred Requirements
Delivering IT solutions for DoD departments and agencies; Experience with Navy networks and training programs either afloat or ashore
Experience adapting project management processes to improve efficiency.
HPE/ARUBA certifications (ACNT, ACA, ACSA, ACP, ACSDP) preferred.
