Job Description
Join the HII Mission Technologies. Our team works on the only shipyard to execute the Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) of a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. The mid-life of RCOH includes refueling of nuclear reactors, overhauling most machinery, and modernizing warfare systems, ensures the Navy's aircraft carriers incorporate improved capabilities needed for success in the remaining 25 years of service. Your accomplishments will make a positive impact supporting the U.S. Navy and America's national defense! We are seeking a Master Tradesperson 4 (Senior-level electrician) to join our growing team. The selected candidate will be supporting RCOH Elevator Support Unit (ESU) by working on electrical systems to assist with refit and fleet modernization of Aircraft Elevators.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Assist in leading trades team by working on active class surface ships to assist with alterations and installations for fleet modernization.
Perform a variety of maintenance and technical support on shipboard systems, integrated systems, and related equipment/software onboard Aircraft Carriers.
Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunction to eliminate problems in minimum time.
Apply comprehensive understanding of production and processes toward completion of assignments.
Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others.
Develop and use technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
Schedule, report and brief customers and senior management.
Perform duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignment.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of electrical experience.
Must have master knowledge and experience with troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs of electrical systems and its associated equipment.
Must be proficient in reading electrical drawings and schematics.
Must be able to follow and enforce safety procedures to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD confidential security clearance and maintain clearance level throughout employment.
Must be able to obtain base access credentials within 60 days of start date and maintain credentials throughout employment.
Must be able to provide hand tools per trade designation.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Preferred Requirements
Candidates who have graduated from and/or completed a vocational school, apprenticeship program or a skilled trades certificate program are preferred.
Candidate with a current or active DoD clearance preferred.
OSHA 10 Maritime Certification
NAVSEA Cableway Improvement certification
Muli-Pin Connector experience
Knowledge of Navy Tag Out program, NSTM 300, and 3M manual
Previous PLC Experience
Previous Motor Controller Experience
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
