SAIC is seeking an Orbital Analyst to join our team. SAIC provides specialized engineering, analysis and operations support to a variety of Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD) customers. Our program supports the research and development of the generation after next of national security-related systems based in space, in the air and on the ground.
SAIC has an opening for an Orbital Analyst to work closely with a diverse team of engineers and scientist developing and implementing the future space- ground architecture. This position supports the research and development of revolutionary space-ground systems. The selected candidate will leverage their orbital analyst expertise and experience to support experimental mission planning. In addition, the selected candidate will analyze the orbits of experimental satellites to determine lifespan, collision avoidance, and tasking opportunities.
Specific responsibilities:
Analyze data from a variety of sources, such as radar and satellite sensors to determine the orbital parameters of satellites and other celestial objects
Use mathematical models and computational tools to predict the future orbital behavior of satellites as well as other position, velocity and trajectory
Identify potential collision between satellites and other objects, and provide recommendations for preventative maneuvers
Analyze and interpret data to understand the space environment
Collaborate with mission planners to develop and optimize satellite orbits, ensuring that specific mission requirements are met
Analyze and interpret large datasets related to satellite orbits
Qualifications
Active TS/SCI with Poly
Bachelor's degree and 9 years related experience or Master's degree and 7 years related NRO satellite experience
NRO orbit analysis experience of 5+ years
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional matrixed team
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Effective interpersonal skills and strong briefing skills
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of SAFe processes
